Golf holiday at lake Mondsee

It is hard to believe that it has already been six years since a close friend of ours first drew our attention to the Superior Hotel Eichingerbauer**** in St. Lorenz on Lake Mondsee and to the idea of a relaxing golf holiday there. Martin (a dermatologist) and I (an internist) both work as self-employed physicians in the Tegernsee area and are always grateful when our stressful jobs allow us to take a break. And then there are our two 14-year-old teenagers, who certainly put our nerves to the test. When it really comes down to it, the twins are always there for one another – but they also enjoy teasing each other endlessly. Take Anne’s rather special future plans, for example, which provide perfect material for her brother’s cheeky remarks. While my husband and I had to finance our university years with demanding side jobs, Anne plans to build an “Instagram career” as an influencer.
“You’ll see,” Anne tells her brother. “One day I might be on TV and you’ll proudly say, ‘That’s my sister.’”
“Yeah, right,” Jens-Torben scoffs. “You’ll probably be on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, having just eaten a giant grub and desperately shouting, ‘I’m a star – get me out of here!’”

Well, teenagers… But at least you now have a pretty good idea that life at our house is never dull. One thing that always helps with teenagers, by the way, is keeping them busy. That’s why it was only natural for us that our two bundles of energy joined us on our short break at the golf hotel on Lake Mondsee.

After just under two hours by car, we arrived at “our” golf hotel on Lake Mondsee. The joy of seeing each other again is great, as a genuine friendship has long since developed between us and our hosts, Sabine and Norbert Sperr. Since they share our passion for golf, it doesn’t take long before the first exchange of experiences begins. We choose the beautiful courtyard terrace as our setting and settle into comfortable rattan chairs. With a view of the impressive mountain panorama, we enjoy the welcome drink that is served. The fresh air of the Salzkammergut is a wonderful contrast to the otherwise sterile atmosphere we are used to from our medical work in treatment rooms. Next, we head to our rooms: Martin and I move into the wellness suite, while the children make themselves comfortable in a Superior double room.
