MONDSEE Land region
Welcome to one of the most beautiful golf regions in Austria!
The Mondsee Land is a paradise for golf enthusiasts, athletes and those interested in culture.
The Mondsee Land: an idyllic area characterised by the deep blue waters of the Mondsee and Irrsee lakes, which bears the epithet “Pearl of the Salzkammergut”.
The lovely region offers you fun and relaxation on and in the water, extensive hikes and bike rides, unforgettable excursions to see art and cultural treasures, and a variety of sports. Families with children are just as much at home here as single travellers and couples because the atmosphere is hospitable, warm and simply wonderfully comfortable.
There is plenty to discover here. The 1060 metre-high Drachenwand for example, is worth a climb because the view from the top is fantastic – not to mention the ships that invite you to a romantic ride on the Mondsee.
And then there are all the “Happy Places” that are sure to boost your happiness hormones. Find your own personal place to breathe deeply: the enchanting Lindenbauernkapelle Chapel or the Almplatzl on the Hochalm or even the mysterious Celtic Hill.
And of course, you an also play golf at the Mondsee. You can really play well here because the two courses in the region are excellent.
Golf Drachenwand Mondsee is one of the most beautiful 9-hole golf courses in Austria, located just above the Mondsee on a wonderful sunny plateau. The fairways were created very harmoniously and above all very judiciously, so even untrained golfers can look forward to unadulterated enjoyment of the game. Of course, the course also includes a driving range, practice greens for pitching, putting and chipping, a sufficient number of parking spaces and a small but nice restaurant, which offers a fine mix of Austrian, Mediterranean and international dishes.
No less attractive is the Golfcub am Mondsee. Do not be surprised if your gaze wanders while playing, because the view of the nearby Drachenwand and the mountains of the Salzkammergut is indescribably beautiful. The Golf Club am Mondsee has 18 flat tracks and cleverly positioned bunkers. Learn the secrets of the game at the golf school or use the modern practice facility: Two practice greens for chipping and pitching, a large putting green and two practice bunkers are available to you without any restrictions.
Culture at Mondsee Land
Art, culture and history have a high priority in Mondsee Land. No wonder, because 6000 years ago, people lived and worked on the shores of the Mondsee. These people have left us a true treasure: a pile-structure lake-dwelling, which was officially recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2011. It lies below the water surface so it is no longer visible, but you can still get to know the history of the former inhabitants: Just take a look at the Mondsee pile pavilion!
The Basilica of St. Michael can be seen clearly above the water. The former Benedictine collegiate church with its 52-metre-high towers is visible from afar and impresses with its façade, in which the figures of St. Peter and St. Paul can be found, as well as with its precious interior design.
The musical highlights undoubtedly include the Mondsee Music Days, which herald the end of summer. They first took place in 1989 and have become indispensable in the annual cultural calendar. Established musicians as well as young up-and-coming artists show their skills here.
