CULTURE IN THE HOLIDAY REGION ATTERSEE

The Attersee-Attergau region is one of the cultural strongholds of the Salzkammergut.

At the beginning of the year, the Attergau New Year's Concert offers first-class enjoyment at the highest level.

The “International Nikolaus Harnoncourt Days” take place during the first weekend in May. The event commemorating the great maestro is known nationwide and has become a real magnet for visitors.

The Gustav Mahler Festival in Steinbach am Attersee is an annual celebration for the composer's birthday on July 7th. Every year, musical gems and cultural insights into the area around this historic site are presented. A varied programme with presentations, concerts and the world premiere of a documentary await you.

Another highlight of the year is the Attergauer Cultural Summer in July and August. The festival has a tradition extending more than thirty years and enchants visitors every summer with its top-class stars. Particularly impressive is the enormous variety of programmes that offers the right cultural experience for every taste.

Every year in July and August, the Steinbach Philharmonic Weeks in the Parish Church Steinbach ensure an enthusiastic musical experience.

There is also the Artists’ Path, which travels in part across meadows, but also has an alpine character. Audio equipment is also available for hire for the right musical accompaniment.

Gustav Klimt, the world-famous painter, spent many summers in the region. His favourite motif was the Attersee and its surrounding landscape.

In June 2019, the first “Gustav Klimt Garden” will be opened in the park in front of the Marina in Kammer.
